This is actually a really lovely garden as it is nice and wide, although this photo doesn’t do it justice. The terrace and steps near to the house were already in place and were destined to stay so our job was to give the main garden a facelift and to also attempt to camouflage the rather ugly (although not without charm) garage which takes up the end of the garden. The area that we had to play with was the section you can see from the steps up to the garage which is 13 metres long by nearly 10 metres wide. Our client didn’t want any walling or areas that might trip people up as they entertain often and want to be able to put a marquee over it for parties. The garage is to be painted black and we have already renewed alot of the RHS fencing. The fencing nearer the house is heavily compromised by encroaching ivy from next door and we took the decision to leave it as it was doing an adequate job and so we have painted it black to sharpen it up a bit. The new fencing is being left as natural wood. We had to find a paving stone which would blend with what was already in place and we have created a small “landing” in the evening sunny spot of the garden on the RHS en route to the shed. This has enough room for a small round table and 4 chairs possibly for an evening glass of white wine.
Possibly you can see some change already! Now for the planting:
The plants aren’t in yet… but they’ve been placed – looking pretty already! and this is the shadier side of the garden waiting to be planted:
And here it is planted up… but a bad photograph as too much shade… I am inviting myself back to the client for a better photo session next week!
