Sanguisorba and Knautia macedonica – matching plant colours! I’ve decided this summer that I like the look of matching plant colours in perennials… cut out the contrasts and get a lovely block of colour using different plants but same tones. The combination that I like most at the moment is Sanguisorba officinalis, Knautia macedonica and Heuchera ‘Palace Purple’ for a crimson/puce border…fabulous! However I’m also pretty keen on Crocosima ‘Emily McKenzie’ Helenium ‘Moerheim Beauty’ and little orange geums. I you add some Euphorbia griffith ‘Fireglow’ you have got a stunning effect.. uuurgh you might say but orange is ‘in’…orange was doing its nut at Chelsea this year. None of these plants got a look in a couple of years ago but I think they are great – and later in the season look for some stunning crimson and orange dahlias…
