Del the Builder is our builder at Townscapes Landscape Contractors which is run by my husband, Peter Garland. If you commission me to design your garden you might well therefore want him to organise the build in which case you will have our builder, Del, doing the build! He has been with us for 20 years and is without doubt the best brickee, builder, paviour etc that you can find and therefore this blog is almost a diary as to how his day and his problems go…
Once you get to know Del I’ll post some more photos! Anyway a few days have gone by and this is where we’ve got to: An unbelievable amount of debris came out of the back yard and we had to order a replacement skip. The weather’s been appallingly wet which has hampered operations, all the dust/ground sheets have got soaked (believe it or not they have to go the laundrette, but the cost almost equates to buying them new!) The client has realised that the new extension wall’s (built by their original builders) rendering is crumbling so they have asked us to redo… of course we can. The concrete bases for the raised beds and water feature have been installed and the existing arras fencing which is to be retained has been painted. It was an awful colour. We have applied the first of 3 coats of ‘Black Ash’ wood preservative by Cuprinol.
The black basalt paving and front bullnosed steps have arrived and stored in the front garden and the Acco drainage system around the new steps and along the house line to the existing drainage point has been fitted.
