Sisyrinchium striatum ‘Variegatum’  or pale yellow-eyed grass ‘Aunt May’

Sisyrinchium can be annuals or rhizomatous perennials forming a clump of narrowly sword-shaped leaves with erect stems carrying solitary or clustered, star-shaped or bell-shaped flowers in spring or summer

‘Aunt May’ is an evergreen perennial forming a clump of erect, sword-shaped grey-green leaves margined with cream, with erect leafy stems bearing several clusters of pale yellow flowers in spring to summer.  It is a must in a summer border as it brings height and definition to other soft planting around it.  It likes the full sun, south facing borders but can tolerate exposed or sheltered sites. 

It likes poor to moderately fertile but well drained soil on the marginally alkaline side so is happy in sand, loam and chalk.  It looks particularly good in a gravel or courtyard garden but will enhance any flower borders.
