West Green House, Hampshire

by caroline / Wednesday, 22 June 2011 / Published in Contemporary Planting, Gardens Visited

Yesterday I was invited to join a group of garden designers to go and see West Green House, near Hartley Witney in Hampshire – what a beautiful place.  I have to say that you do have to organise a group booking as the owner, Marylyn Abbott, likes to tell you about it personally, which is really lovely as it makes the whole story of how she found it and brought it in to the modern world, but keeping its essential beauty and uniqueness, come alive.  It is well well worth a visit.  If you visit the website (www.westgreenhouse.co.uk) you will also see that she holds operas and other musical events in the grounds… we are going to Don Giovanni on 31st July and I’ll report back but I imagine the gardens in the evening will look spectacular.
