This is a small artisan house on a very pretty square in Highgate. The house had been done up by a young couple with immaculate taste – beautiful soft greys, greens and blues and Caroline felt it was important to reflect this in the garden. She decided to change the small barren front garden into a contemporary gravel garden incorporating festuca (blue) grasses, lavenders, eryngiums, rosemarys and salvias but also bringing in a level of structure by using standard bay trees and buxus balls to define the perimeters.
The client said: “I am delighted with Caroline’s garden design services. She came up with a plan that incorporated all of my preferences and reflected exactly the style I wanted but her ideas greatly improved on what I imagined. Her design works well in our small and slightly awkward-shaped front garden and makes brilliant use of the available space. Caroline cleverly came up with a planting scheme that looks very impressive but is incredibly low-maintenance, which is exactly what I wanted. I have also been impressed by the after-care provided.”
