I have just read a wonderful article by Tim Richardson in the May issue of the Society of Gardenr Designers’ Journal where he talks about ‘conspicuous design’ being a ‘matter of taste’. Caroline, Peter We are loving our new garden, thank you. The rain last night has perked all the plants up and was much more effective than our watering. Caroline – happy for you to suggest a time for the photo shoot… you may like to do one very quickly so it has the just finished

Garden design in Wandsworth
Thursday, 18 April 2013
by caroline
This is a suburban garden in Wandsworth which was really rather lovely, but had become tired, overgrown and most of the plants were woody and unkempt. The clients had decided to have a completely new garden but keeping the rather traditional, vintage and pretty look. We had to do dramatic clearance and apart from the

This is a circa 120 square metre front drive. This is a large front drive to a house which has recently undergone a complete overhaul. The driveway needed to be improved to come up to the standard of the house. The drive had large reasonably unattractive Scottish pebbles. There were very overgrown untidy flower beds with

This garden was a bit of a mess to say the least and the young professional couple, with one small baby girl, wanted something simple but effective designed for their garden. Their main requirements were good fencing as they are very overlooked, as much lawn as we could possibly give them, very low maintenance so

Here is a South London garden, based in Wandsworth, needing quite a bit of work doing! The house itself has been beautifully developed and the young couple, with small baby, have now decided it is time to sort out the garden, after the builders’ rubble. They are north-west facing which is not ideal as the

Another South London garden – now finished

This is actually a really lovely garden as it is nice and wide, although this photo doesn’t do it justice. The terrace and steps near to the house were already in place and were destined to stay so our job was to give the main garden a facelift and to also attempt to camouflage the

This is a tiny garden that we designed in Wandsworth – it was an unbelievable mess (after builders had transformed the house) and had to be designed for low maintenance as tennants were moving in and they were not interested in gardening! We decided to concentrate on putting in very good paving, York stone steps

This is a south facing garden in Wandsworth, south London. The house was having a back extension put onto it and the garden needed a complete redesign – albeit relatively simple, but effective. The client wanted to keep an area at the back for raised vegetable beds, a lawn, various shrubs and a couple of pretty
