The clocks went back yesterday and I have to say I woke up with a mild feeling of winter blues… it was nice to know that we had that extra hour in bed but it wasn’t nice to know that the dark would be creeping upon us at about 4.00pm uuurrrggh those long cold winter nights. Anyway we pulled ourselves together and took our dogs for a walk – NEVER a disappointment as it doesn’t matter what mood you’re in they always want their “walkies” and they always greet the suggestion with unbelievable enthusiasm and thanks to them we were taken into a little bit of Heaven. Autumn has decided to give us a cracker this year. The colours are almost blinding and I’m afraid that my camera doesn’t quite do justice to the puces, oranges, reds, pinks, carmines etc that seem to have arrived in full glory – they are just lovely. And it’s not just the colour – everything is looking healthy and proud; the berries are fabulously abundant and the winter flowers are strong and glossy. Try to get yourself to a beech wood or a park or garden quickly before it all goes – Wisley, Battersea and Richmond are all burgeoning and at the moment the light is still wonderful in the mornings and the air is still warm. If you don’t have dogs that MAKE you go just go anyway!
